Affiliate Disclosure
KentOils.com earns money in two ways: advertising and affiliate commissions. This page explains how affiliate links work so you know exactly what's going on when you click a product link on this site.
How Affiliate Links Work
Some links on this site are affiliate links. That means if you click a link and buy something, we earn a small commission from the retailer. It doesn't cost you a single extra penny. The price is exactly the same whether you use our link or go directly to the store.
Think of it like this... a friend recommends a restaurant, you go and love it, and the restaurant buys your friend a beer as a thank you. You still paid the same price for your meal. That's how affiliate commissions work.
Which Programs We Use
Amazon Associates: We earn a small percentage (typically 3-4%) when you buy products through our Amazon links. This covers epoxy kits, prep tools, rollers, and everything else we recommend.
Home Depot Affiliate Program: We earn commissions on purchases made through our Home Depot links.
Lowe's Affiliate Program: Same deal as Home Depot.
Specialty brand programs: We may earn commissions from brands like ArmorGarage or Epoxy-Coat if we link directly to their sites.
How This Affects Our Recommendations
It doesn't. And that's not just a line we put here because the FTC says we should.
Here's the reality: commission rates between Amazon, Home Depot, and Lowe's are roughly the same. We have zero financial incentive to recommend one retailer over another. The commission on a $150 epoxy kit is about $5-6 no matter where you buy it. Nobody is compromising their integrity for six bucks.
We pick the best product first, then link to wherever you can buy it. If a budget kit outperforms a premium one, we say so... even if the premium kit would earn us a bigger commission. Our reputation matters more than a few extra dollars per click.
If we ever receive a free product for review, we'll say so clearly in the article. As of this writing, no brand has sent us anything for free. Every product we've reviewed was purchased with our own money or researched using publicly available information.
Why We're Telling You This
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires websites to disclose affiliate relationships. But beyond the legal requirement, we think you deserve to know. Transparency builds trust, and trust is the only thing a small site like this has going for it.
